Description

This course analyzes the relationship between film and history. Emphasis is placed on the historical
and aesthetic concerns at work upon particular directors. Weekly film showings, lecture and discussion.
Students will be required to read critical, historical works. Among the directors studied are: Einstein,
Chaplin, Capra, Welles, Renoir, Bergman, Truffaut, Hitchcock, Fellini, Kurosawa, Sajayit Ray, and
Bunuel.
