Description

Examines the ways in which money influences the American political system. The course begins with an introduction to American capitalism and then turns to a conversation of political participation with a focus on interest groups. The course will consider how money impacts elections and public policy/lawmaking before delving into two case studies: Big Oil and Big Pharma. Are reforms needed, and if so, how to implement them? To what extent should money be extracted from politics?
