Description

This course will provide students with a thorough understanding of the early cognitive, oral, and aural typical and atypical development of language in children that later affects the development and acquisition of reading and writing. The course will include literacy theory, pedagogies, materials, and methods for infants through the early primary grades. Emphasis will be placed on the importance of developing phonemic and phonological awareness through age appropriate activities. The use and examples of oral tradition and children?s literature appropriate to the young child will be included. (Formerly EDP4-507).
