Description

This course is designed to increase knowledge of the research that supports teaching the use of integrated strategies, particularly those that promote teaching and learning through the arts. The course aims to increase pre-service teachers? ability to plan and implement lessons that integrate PA Academic Standards and PA Academic Standards for the Arts and Humanities. Emphasis is placed on increasing pre-service teachers? understanding of critical and creative thinking as primary ways to achieve real-world problem solving across the disciplines. Students will apply the national standards developed by the Consortium of National Arts Education Associations, NAEYC, and applicable ACEI program standards to articulate priorities for high quality, meaningful arts experiences in the PreK-4 context across a developmental continuum.
