Description

Centered on the US context, and drawing upon an interdisciplinary framework, this course examines the intricate relationship between artificial intelligence (AI) and human society, engaging with historical, political, and philosophical perspectives. Students will trace the evolution of AI from its conceptual origins to its contemporary applications, analyzing pivotal historical milestones and influential figures. The course addresses political challenges and ethical dilemmas associated with AI, such as automation, weaponization, privacy, surveillance, and governance. Additionally, philosophical concerns surrounding consciousness, creativity, and identity will be explored. Through case studies and real-world scenarios, students will confront pressing issues related to AI, fostering critical thinking and ethical reasoning skills crucial for navigating the future of technology.
