Description

Knowledge of important historical movements, theoretical frameworks, and philosophical perspectives is necessary to un-derstanding the evolution of the field of literacy and literacy pedagogies as they have developed and continue to change over time. The work of various influential social, cognitive, linguistic, psychological and educational theorists will be dis-cussed so that students gain a richer, deeper understanding of literacy instruction, as well as become critical evaluators of current and future trends.
