Description

Examines the role of media in democratic participation and public culture. Builds on Media Literacy and Media and Society to analyze media institutions, forms, and practices in the formation of community and the representation of community. The focus is on alternatives to the dominant commercial form of media and the alignment of media with efforts to create more just communities.
Prerequisites: COMM-200 and COMM-251.
